 | 2010 Space Update
24 March 2010
On 24 March 2010, the IAF will present the 2010 Space Update at the premises of UNESCO in Paris.
Three major speakers have confirmed their participation at this year’s Space Update to be presented by the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) on Wednesday 24 March between 17:45 and 19:15 and hosted by UNESCO in Paris.
This year’s Space Update will feature:
A presentation upon the European Space Agency’s Human Spaceflight programme. The talk will be given by Frank de Winne, the astronaut from Belgium who last year became the first European commander of the International Space Station.
A talk entitled Disaster Help from Space, presented by Gunter Schreier of the German Space Center’s (DLR) DFD division. The recent earthquakes in Haiti and Chile have proven once again the vital role of satellite observations in aiding relief efforts after natural disasters.
NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) has been analyzing minerals, looking for water, tracing the distribution of dust in the atmosphere and monitoring Martian weather. James Graf from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory was long time project manager of the MRO and he will present Results from the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.
The venue of the Space Update will be UNESCO, 7 Place de Fontenoy, 75007 Paris
